One doesn’t need to go far to explore and learn new things! Vince and I love taking our kids on day trips throughout the summer when the days are long and warm.
We live in the southwest area of the Twin Cities, so these locations are the perfect day trip for anyone who lives in the Twin Cities area, but I would highly recommend them to anyone who is planning a trip to the area!
Located only 50 minutes away from us on the St. Croix River, Hudson is a charming city with tons of family friendly activities. Walking along the pier or swimming at Lakefront Park, visiting boutiques and ice cream shops and eating at one of Hudson's many restaurants make for a wonderful family day trip.
Also located along the St. Croix River, Stillwater is a picturesque town with an iconic historic downtown. One of our favorite stops has always been Teddy Bear Park, an adorable place for the kids to play. For those who appreciate the arts, be sure to visit the Stillwater Art Guild Gallery for shopping and art classes.
Located in Minneapolis, this is perfect for those who don’t want to adventure away from the cities. Walk the trails at Minnehaha Park to see the beautiful falls and enjoy a picnic after.
Another Minneapolis location, Lake Nokomis is a great place to spend time at the beach and take a walk or bike ride around its nearby trails.
This is another adorable town located just southeast of the Twin Cities. Along the Mississippi River, enjoy swimming, hiking or a picnic on the beach at Afton State Park. Downtown Hastings has some cute boutiques and restaurants worth visiting as well.
